The popularity of farmer’s markets has clearly moved beyond the trend stage. They’ve become a social cornerstone for communities across the country and steadily fueled the swelling interest for eating locally, and supporting small family owned farms.

Bing Cherries galore from Tiny's Organic at University Farmer's Market, Seattle
On Saturday I happily peddled my bicycle home from the market. My basket was filled with leaf lard that I’ll render down to use in pie crusts, rhubarb which became the most fantastic rhubarb mustard, and a big bag of gorgeous Bing cherries from Tiny’s Organic. I also bought the a most delectable chocolate chip cookie from Belle Epicurean that I somehow managed to save until I got home so I could share it with David.
