Sweet and sharp in flavor, this chile from the Aleppo region of Syria has a moderate heat that doesn't overpower its fruity flavor. Some dishes use only this chile as a seasoning because the complexity can stand alone. These chile flakes contain no seeds and are soft, moist with a bright intense shiny red color.
Aleppo pepper is an all around favorite because it brings out the best in everything from fish and vegetables to tenderloin. You can use it in any recipe calling for red chile flakes. It's also a winner in watermelon salad with a squeeze of lime.
